Job Profile

The Internal Inspector is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, audits, and evaluations of cranes, lifting equipment, and related operational processes to ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements. This role supports continuous improvement by identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring safe and efficient crane operations across all project sites, workshop and yard.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inspection & Compliance

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections of mobile cranes, crawler cranes, hoists, rigging gear, and lifting accessories.
  • Verify that all equipment complies with relevant regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, ASME, LOLER, ISO, local safety regulations).
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, logs, and reports for internal auditing.
  • Ensure calibration and certifications for lifting equipment are up to date.

2. Safety & Risk Assessment

  • Identify unsafe conditions, improper operations, or equipment defects and initiate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate job sites for crane setup compliance, ground conditions, load charts, clearances, environmental factors, etc.
  • Participate in incident and near-miss investigations involving lifting operations.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce risks and enhance operational safety.

3. Operational Oversight

  • Review crane operator qualifications, licenses, and training records to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor rigging practices, load handling procedures, and communication/signal standards.
  • Verify proper use of load charts, lift plans, and critical lift procedures.
  • Support the planning and approval of complex lifts.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance findings, audit summaries, and corrective action requests.
  • Track and follow up on corrective actions to ensure timely closure.
  • Assist in developing and updating inspection procedures, checklists, and internal standards.

5. Training & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to crane operators, riggers, and maintenance teams.
  • Participate in internal audits and safety meetings.
  • Assist in developing safety programs, toolbox talks, and training modules for lifting operations.
  • Stay updated on new regulations, technologies, and best practices in lifting and crane safety.

Qualifications

  • Must have LEEA and/or ADNOC Certification.
  • Must have UAE Heavy Tractor license (Number 8)
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Safety, or related field (preferred).
  • Additional safety certifications (OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH) are strong assets.
  • Strong understanding of crane safety standards, load charts, rigging techniques, and lift planning.
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience on crane operations, heavy equipment inspection
  • Proficient on English language, with solid skills in writing and reading.
  • Broad expertise in the operation and application of equipment, lifting gear, wire rope inspections, rocking motions inspections.
  • Detailed knowledge of ST-19 / CP-19 ADNOC lifting regulations
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and the ability to assess risks.
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various conditions.
