Job Profile

We are seeking an experienced Telehandler Operator to join our operations team. This role involves operating telehandlers to support large-scale excavation, material transport, site prep, and civil construction projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting earthmoving crews by transporting heavy materials and equipment safely and efficiently across varied terrain.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation in Workshop, Warehouse & Earthmoving sites:

  • Operating telehandlers using attachments such as buckets, forks, jibs and grabs to carry out specific tasks.
  • Assist for loading and unloading materials such as pallets, tools, and heavy machinery parts.
  • Assist in removing and installing heavy parts to ensures safe handling, precise placement during machine dis/assembly.
  • Assist in lifting, transporting, and positioning materials in workshop, warehouse, and earthmoving sites.
  • Conduct visual and functional pre-start inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Monitor and maintain fuel, oil, and fluid levels.

Site and Material Handling:

  • Assist with site logistics and movement of earthworks, construction materials, and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with site supervisors, riggers, dogmen, and other operators to ensure safe and efficient workflows.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and transport to designated areas.
  • Assist with setup and pack-down of site areas and temporary structures.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings to ensure the safety of personnel, vehicles, and structures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety drills.
  • Report to supervisor, safety officer any hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly.

Maintenance, Housekeeping & Documentation:

  • Perform basic maintenance and housekeeping of the telehandler.
  • Complete logbooks, maintenance records, and shift reports accurately.
  • Ensure with valid documents both operator and machine prior operating.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce risk and ensure productivity.
  • Notify supervisors of any defects, faults, or maintenance needs beyond operator capability.

Qualifications

  • Valid telehandler/forklift operator certification
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a telehandler in civil or earthmoving environments.
  • Sound understanding of safe load handling, rigging basics, and telehandler maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with site operations and basic earthmoving equipment handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, lift charts, or instructions from supervisors.
